Winner of three Tony Awards, Urinetown is a musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, corporate mismanagement and musical theatre itself!
In a not-too-distant future, water is so scarce that corporations control the water supply with an iron grip and everyone has to pay to pee. Down at Public Amenity Number 9, the meanest, filthiest convenience in the city, the poor count their pennies for the privilege of using the only loo they can afford. But the fat cats are getting too greedy and revolution is in the air…
Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is irreverently funny and touchingly honest. It provides a fresh perspective on one of America’s greatest art forms and is the latest production from the RNCM’s talented youth company.
URINETOWN was produced on Broadway in September, 2001 by the Araca Group and Dodger Theatricals in association with TheaterDreams, Inc., and Lauren Mitchell.
This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe). All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI Europe.
