Wrangler — Stephen Mallinder, Phil Winter and Benge — released their debut album, LA Spark in 2014, when it was described by Q Magazine as ‘creepy and brilliant, music you can dance to while looking over your shoulder. The best kind of music.’ Sparked: Modular Remix Project followed in summer 2016, filled with remixes by the likes of Mute founder Daniel Miller, Chris Carter from Chris & Cosey, Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails) and Scanner, it’s an expansive, sprawling canvas of analogue sound, spread across a double gatefold album and created exclusively on modular systems. Recorded at Benge’s MemeTune Studios, Wrangler's second studio album White Glue ( September 2016) featured 9 new tracks including ‘Clockwork’ (a nod to Kraftwerk who famously name-checked Mallinder’s former band Cabaret Voltaire as ‘brothers in popular electronic music’), the white-light-techno-rush, triggered synths and chopped-up, multi-layered vocals of ‘Real Life and ‘Colliding’, the spacey Krautrock closer. Over the last 3 years Wrangler have toured across the UK, Europe and Japan, playing at the Royal Albert Hall as special guests of John Grant and joining forces with the US singer to form the band Creep Show, who released their debut album Mr Dynamite in early 2018. Wrangler’s most recent release is the 12 inch single Three Memes with exclusive mixes by LoneLady and Crooked Man. They’ve also just finished a new studio album due for release in autumn 2019.
Scissorgun are a two piece electronic band based in Manchester. They comprise of David Clarkson (Triceps, Illuminati) on synths, rhythms, programming and samples and Alan Hempsall (Crispy Ambulance) on treated guitar and vocals. Their debut album 'Assault Two' was released in September 2017.
